Social Cineminute “Pulmón X Pulmón”: Promoting the early detection of lung cancer in México

Committed to the health of Mexicans, Fundación Grupo México and Conciencia Cinemex, through their support program Cineminuto Social, have launched an awareness campaign at Cinemex to raise awareness throughout Mexico of the message of the United Front for Lung Cancer. The main objective of this campaign is to promote the early detection of lung cancer, a disease that, if detected in time, can have a more effective treatment.

What is the United Front for Lung Cancer?

The United Front for Lung Cancer is a movement of Organized Civil Society dedicated to transforming lung cancer care and guaranteeing dignified and comprehensive treatment for patients. This movement is made up of Fundación de Alba, Respirando con Valor and Fundación Salvati, organizations that together have more than 30 years of experience working with patients with lung cancer and other types of cancer.

Launch of the Social Cineminute “Pulmón X Pulmón”

On July 18, the launch of the Social Cineminute “Pulmón X Pulmón” took place at Cinemex Casa de Arte. This cineminute, which will be available from July 18 to August 14, 2024, highlights the importance of lung health and the need for smokers to undergo a low-dose CT scan. This test is essential for early diagnosis, which can significantly improve the chances of successful lung cancer treatment.

Scope and Coverage

The cineminute will have national coverage, being present in more than 250 Cinemex complexes, which is equivalent to 2,145 Cinemex theaters throughout the country. This wide dissemination ensures that the message about the importance of early detection of lung cancer reaches a large audience, thus increasing awareness and knowledge about this disease.

The Launch Event

Representatives from the Alba Foundation, the Salvati Foundation and Respirando con Valor, organizations that work together in the United Front for Lung Cancer, were present at the launching event of the cineminute. The media, patients and other civil society organizations that support this important cause also attended.

Dr. Jorge Alatorre, an oncologist specializing in lung cancer, was also present and highlighted the seriousness of the situation in Mexico, where lung cancer is the fourth cause of cancer deaths and 95% of cases are diagnosed in advanced stages. This fact underlines the importance of initiatives such as “Pulmón X Pulmón” to promote early detection and improve survival rates.

The “Pulmón X Pulmón” Social Cineminute is a powerful initiative that reflects the commitment of Fundación Grupo México, Conciencia Cinemex and the United Front for Lung Cancer to the lung health of Mexicans. Through this campaign, it is hoped not only to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of lung cancer, but also to inspire people to take proactive measures to take care of their health.
